YouTube released a report showing the jump in popularity according to viewing numbers. The video-sharing platform reported a rise of 300% from 2016 to 2017. Impressive rise - YouTube revealed that in 2017, 20 Latin music videos surpassed a billion views, in contrast to just five videos achieving the same feat in 2016. Take a look at the incredible records set by some of these artists!

Luis Fonsi - It's not news that the Spanish singer's song 'Despacito' spread like a disease. The video for the song was the first in YouTube history to reach four billion views in just 272 days. It was also the most watched video in more than 50 countries.

J. Balvin - 'Mi Gente', featuring Willy William, reached one billion views in 102 days. It was the fourth-fastest video to reach this mark, and even Beyoncé loved it. The Queen of Pop featured on a new version of the hit by the Colombian artist, with profits donated to earthquake victims.

Maluma - He's another one with multiple YouTube hits. Four of his videos passed one billion videos. Outside Latin America, he was widely seen in the USA (465 million), Italy (128 million), France (48 million), Germany (33 million), U.K (29 million), Canada (22 million) and Morocco (8.8 million), among others.

Major Lazer, Anitta, and Pabllo Vittar - 'Sua Cara', by Major Lazer in collaboration with the Brazilians Anitta and Pabllo Vittar exploded on YouTube. The clip gained more views in its first 24 hours than any other music video in YouTube history. The video reached 20.1 million views in the first 24 hours, making it one of the 10 most popular releases on music platforms of all time.
