In 2011, the Queen spoke Irish when she made a historic state visit to the Republic of Ireland. It was the first time a (reigning) UK monarch had visited the nation in over 100 years. The Queen made two important speeches that were praised by many. Now, royal relations with Ireland are moving on positively with a new state visit.

Newlyweds Harry and Meghan will visit Dublin next month. The upcoming state visit was announced by Kensington Palace on Twitter. According to the tweet, the visit was requested by Her Majesty’s Government.

In a follow up tweet, the Palace provided more info. Apparently, the couple will be “learning more about Ireland's history and experiencing its rich culture”. The Duke and Duchess will also “meet the people who are shaping the country's future”.
