For everyone who saw '500 Days of Summer' and thought Zooey Deschanel's character was the antagonist, Joseph Gordon-Levitt is here to set the record straight.
One of the best indie romantic comedies of all time, '500 Days of Summer' is the story of "boy meets girl." Instead of the tired love story that everyone has already seen, '500 Days of Summer' makes a statement on female individuality and male projection, a.k.a boy falls in love with girl, but she doesn't fall with him.
One Twitter user brought back the debate surrounding the 2009 film by writing, "Still haven’t forgiven Zooey Deschanel for what she did to Joseph Gordon-Levitt in 500 Days of Summer."

To which the actor promptly set the record straight, writing, "Watch it again. It’s mostly Tom’s fault. He’s projecting. He’s not listening. He’s selfish. Luckily he grows by the end."

Cheers to JGL for preaching the true plot of his iconic film. As '500 Days of Summer' clearly portrays, sometimes the truth lies in the difference between expectations and reality.
