Kendall Jenner may have looked like a vintage vixen on the latest cover of LOVE magazine, but it wasn't her artful photos that had commentators erupting, it was her tone-deaf comments about the modeling industry.

In the interview, Jenner discusses runway season and why she has opted out of walking in most shows. "Since the beginning we've been super selective about what shows I would do," she said. "I was never one of those girls who would do like 30 shows a season or whatever the f*** those girls do."

The backlash outpoured from fellow models, industry professionals, and even her fans. Many were quick to call out Jenner's privilege in the fashion world, saying she is one of the few that has the opportunity to be selective with their work. It also didn't help Jenner that her entrance into the modeling industry was founded in 'Keeping Up With The Kardashians,' and she had little to do with it at all.

Jenner has recently responded to the backlash, placing the blame on LOVE magazine, and insisting the statement was "taken out of context."

In a statement to Harpers Bazaar, Jenner said, "I was misinterpreted in a recent interview over the weekend and it's important to clarify the meaning," she wrote. "It was intended to be entirely complimentary but unfortunately my words were twisted and taken out of context. I want to be clear: The respect that I have for my peers is immeasurable!"

"I get to experience first hand their tireless commitment, their work ethic, the endless days, the lack of sleep, separation from family and friends, stress of traveling, the toll on physical and mental health, yet they still make it all look effortless and beautiful," she continued.

As a frequent cover star for LOVE magazine, this controversy may impact the stars modeling career with the publication—and perhaps in the industry entirely.
