The outpour of news about Italian actor Asia Argento allegedly sexually assaulting a minor has had a wealth of consequences on the #MeToo activist's reputation.
Argento claimed that her late-boyfriend Anthony Bourdain paid accuser Jimmy Bennett to stay quiet about their alleged relations, now, Argento's lawyer says that the hush money has officially halted.
Attorney Mark Jay Heller has denied the claims against Argento, saying, "Her relationship with Bennett was never sexual, but rather the relationship was a long distance friendship over many years,” according to reports from the New York Post.
Heller's statement, however, confirms that Bourdain did pay-off Bennett but since he has passed away, Argento is not responsible for the money. He wrote, “Now that Mr. Bourdain has passed away and is not able to comment on his desire to avoid potential scandal … Asia will not permit any portion of the balance of the $380,000 payment to be paid to Bennett who has already received $250,000 from Anthony Bourdain.”
Only time will tell if Bennett files legal action against Argento to pay the remaining funds that surrounded their alleged affair.
