Singer-songwriter Dolores O’Riordan, who rose to fame as the frontwoman for the Irish rock group The Cranberries, died by drowning because of alcohol intoxication.

The tragic news was announced in January when O’Riordan's body was found in a London hotel room. Now, the Westminster Coroner’s Court has revealed the cause of the star's death was extreme intoxication. The star was four-times over the legal drinking limit.

Investigators believe her death was an accidental incident due to lack of suicide note and emotional motive. O’Riordan was in London working on a recording project before embarking on The Cranberries' planned reunion tour.

The official Twitter page for the band released a statement regarding the news. The Cranberries thanked their fans for the ongoing support and gave their condolences to O’Riordan's family.

O’Riordan was 46 years old at the time of her death. Her iconic Irish voice and the powerful ballads The Cranberries shared will go down in entertainment history.
