CELEBRITY British royal family
Ever since Meghan Markle was thrust into the international media spotlight once she began dating her now-husband Prince Harry, a few of her family members (particularly her half-sister and father) have caused nonstop headaches for the Duchess and the Royals.
From Thomas Markle's staged photographs to hateful words in the press from sister Samantha Markle, this year has most certainly had its rough points for the new Royal. Yet it seems like all this drama may have worked in her favor with her new family, starting with her in-laws.
The media spectacle Thomas Markle caused for his daughter leading up to her wedding only helped the Duchess get closer to father-in-law, Prince Charles. Charles has really taken to Meghan, so much so that when her father couldn't attend last minute to walk her down the aisle, Charles graciously stepped in.
Camilla Parker Bowles also made Meghan feel more than welcome amidst the turmoil, likely because she can relate to Meghan and understands what it's like to be the outsider and newcomer.
Finally, the Queen. It seems that even she has taken pity on her newest granddaughter-in-law. The Queen has reportedly invited Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland, to the Christmas festivities at Sandringham House this year. A pretty big deal, as the Queen is notoriously strict about her guest list and has never extended an invitation to Kate Middleton's family.
