Ariana Grande was grabbed by a man who jumped a barricade at the ‘Wicked: For Good’ Asia-Pacific premiere in Singapore on November 13. The incident sparked outrage and swift police response, with the man now having been charged in court.
Video footage shows the intruder pushing past photographers before seizing the actress. Co-star Cynthia Erivo pulled her away before security intervened. Grande was visibly shaken, with fans online criticizing the lax security standards and praising Erivo's bravery in equal measures.
Police identified the man as 26-year-old Johnson Wen, an Australian who has previously disrupted celebrity events, including storming the stage at concerts by Katy Perry and The Chainsmokers. He was charged in a Singapore court this November 14 with being a public nuisance and may face a fine of up to S$2,000 (about US$1,540).
