Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, provides health update following mastectomy

The disease is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women all over the world. In countries like the US, one in eight women are diagnosed with breast cancer within their lifetime.
Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, revealed that she was recently diagnosed with breast cancer after a routine mammogram screening. A spokesperson told the press that she was advised by doctors to undergo surgery which has now "taken place successfully." The Duchess had a single mastectomy at the beginning of July and has been told that her prognosis is good. She continued her recovery at home surrounded by family. including her daughters Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.
Ferguson recorded episodes of her new podcast 'Tea Talks' both shortly before the surgery and in the week after. She told co-host Sarah Thompson that she felt it was important to return quickly and share her cancer journey. "I want every single person that is listening to this podcast to go and get checked," she said. "I'm taking this as a real gift to me to change my life, to nurture myself." Ferguson said she was symptom-free when she received her diagnosis, underlying the importance of regular screenings.
