The British Sunday Times recently released a list of must-hear world music albums for music fans. The paper listed 30 deserving albums that have received good reviews by the critics and won prizes like Grammy Awards, but which have no reached mass popularity because they are out of the mainstream.
They considered criteria like concept, culture, and local sounds from different countries around the world. An interesting detail is that Cuban, Brazilian, African and Indian songs gained the most prominence in the survey. Also present are European and North American artists.
