A new Frida Kahlo exhibition is coming to London. Though legendary paintings by the artist have been exhibited around the world, her clothes have never left her house in Mexico City, until now. ‘Frida Kahlo: Making Her Self Up’ will open on June 16 at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. The exhibition is curated by Claire Wilcox and will feature clothes from the Mexican artist’s wardrobe.
Wilcox talked to Dazed to share details about the exciting exhibition. “I’m working closely with my co-curator, Circe Henestrosa, pooling our enthusiasm and expertise”, she said. The curator also noted that theme is “about the way Frida constructed her identity”. On what to expect, Wilcox explained that the exhibition “starts off with her early years and goes into her relationship with her father, and the final gallery shows the clothing”.
