HEALTH Anxiety

The American Psychiatric Association (APA) conducted a recent survey on anxiety across the country, and the results are nerve-racking. This year, the overall national anxiety score is five points higher than it was in 2017. A whopping 39% of participants who were surveyed reported increased anxiety.

“This poll shows U.S. adults are increasingly anxious particularly about health, safety, and finances. That increased stress and anxiety can significantly impact many aspects of people’s lives, including their mental health, and it can affect families,” APA president Anita Everett said in a press release. “It highlights the need to help reduce the effects of stress with regular exercise, relaxation, healthy eating and time with friends and family.”

When life gets stressful and the weight of responsibility seems harder to bear, remember that you are not alone in that feeling. Addressing the overall increase in anxiety all over the nation is an important step in removing the stigma surrounding mental health.
