Kim Noble is an artist from Australia who has been diagnosed with a dissociative identity disorder, which results in a split of personalities that take over the body for periods of time.
"It's caused from trauma, and the personality dissociates, so for me, it's like sleepwalking," Noble told Vice. "Someone can say 'Oh you've been up painting,' and I have no memory of doing it."
Noble has 20 different personalities that take control of her body. From a gay man named Ken to a 15-year-old girl with body image issues, Noble becomes a distinctively separate person from herself with each personality.
As an artist, each of Noble's personalities has a unique style and uses specific imagery. When most artists have just one style that is noted as theirs, Noble produces from 20 different hands.
"I had to explain my mental health issues to explain the art because they came actually hand-in-hand," Noble said. "For me, it helps me learn about the other personalities and get a feel and understanding of them. That's the closest I'm gonna get to them."
Kim Noble had her range of art displayed at the With Art In Mind exhibition in London.
