As environmental action becomes more and more of a priority for households across the country, recycling is a great way that individuals can do their part. As life is hectic, Mashable shares three easy ways to cleanup your recycling routine: 

1. Don't recycle plastic bags
Plastic bags that you get from grocery stores or retail shops are not recyclable, even though many people think they are. However, a good way to ethically throw away that pile of bags you have is to take them back to the supermarket. Many US locations have thin-film recycling stations that are meant specifically for plastic bags. Reduce, re-use, and tactically recycle!

2. Don't recycle unsafe materials
Sometimes it can be unclear as to what is safe and unsafe when it comes to recycling. Broken glass, batteries, and electrical waste are all dangerous for recycling machines and workers. When you are throwing something away, try to think of the people and places that will be handling the waste.

3. Make it easy
A lot of people in the US are still not recycling at home. According to Mashable, 50% of recyclable material still ends up in landfills. As a way to combat this, all you have to do is get another bin. Make it easy for you and your family by putting them next to each other. Small actions can make a big impact when it comes to helping clean up the environment.
