Australia's deadliest jobs -

Some jobs are more demanding than others, but a great deal of Australians work in industries that cost them their lives. 

The most common job for Aussie men is also the most country's deadliest, according to a new study, with a fatality rate 13 times higher than the average job down under.

10. Administrative and support services - Administrative and support services, perhaps unsurprisingly, had the fewest deaths and injuries in the top ten according to Finder.com.au.

9. Health care and social assistance - This industry employs more than one and a half million people in Australia and has improved its safety record.

Low death rate, some injuries - Health care has a rate of 0.3 deaths per 100,000 workers but had 16,175 workplace compensation claims in a one year period.

8. Arts and recreation services - Many might not expect this sector to rank so highly in the ranking of Australia's deadliest jobs.

7. Mining - Mining usually has a reputation for being an incredibly dangerous job, but is only ranked one place higher than Arts and recreation services.

Remarkably low deaths, injuries - There were six deaths in the Australian mining sector over a one year period, that number has come down considerably over the years.

6. Wholesale trade - This industry was the only one in the top ten that posted zero deaths in a one year period.

No deaths, many injuries - Despite zero deaths posted in the wholesale trade industry, there were 4,415 serious injuries in one year.

5. Electricity, gas, water and waste services - This industry saw a jump in fatalities.

Many deaths, fewer fatalities - There were eight deaths during one year in Australia's electricity, gas, water and waste services industry, but it had the lowest serious injury rate of the entire top ten list.

4. Manufacturing - Manufacturing had the inverse problem of the electricity, gas, water and waste services sector when it comes to safety.

Few deaths, tons of injuries - Manufacturing had six deaths in a one year period but had the second-highest workplace compensation claim number, at 12,740.

3. Construction - This industry perennially ranks among the most dangerous in Australia.

Extremely high number of deaths - There were 35 deaths in the construction industry in a one year period.

2. Agriculture, forestry and fishing - Agriculture, forestry and fishing was ranked as the most dangerous industry in Australia until new information came to light.

Numerous deaths and injuries - With 14 deaths per 100,000 workers, agriculture, specifically sheep, beef cattle and grain farming are highly dangerous professions.

Truck driving - Truck driving specifically is the most dangerous of all jobs in Australia, according to Monash University's latest report.

Hundreds of deaths - Over the last 12 years, there have been 545 truck driver deaths on the job.
