Skip the Spa: Try sound therapy for ultimate relaxation
LIFESTYLE Sound therapy
Life can be stressful, and it seems like every day a new method for relaxation and wellness is surfacing. But rather than taking a trip to the spa for a couple hours of escape, what if you could reap long-term restoration from sound therapy?
Denise Leicester the founder of Soul Medicine, believes that frequencies and reverberations are the keys to deep relaxation. In an interview with Culture Trip, she explained that "Hearing sound is one of our primal senses – the first developed in the womb and the last lost when we die. Sound has incredible powers to relax, alert, soothe and inform."
So what does sound therapy entail? Leicester explains that sound therapy harnesses voice vibrations that are created by singing specific Sanskrit syllables at 432hz with instruments attuned to the same frequency. Together this atmosphere enables a more focused type of meditation than other practices.
"Sound therapy can activate the deepest healing responses, making it ideal for those looking to make long-term changes to negative thought patterns," Leicester said. She encourages the practice for people "who’ve previously struggled with traditional meditation," saying they will "appreciate the frequency’s ability to enact deep change without conscious effort."
