LIFESTYLE Christmas

The holiday season can be a rough, stressful time—and even rougher on your wallet! But with a little careful planning, you don't have to break the bank in order to have a wonderful Christmas. With a little bit of budgeting, you can still gift your loved ones thoughtful presents to remind them just how much they mean to you (without going into debt). Check out these helpful tips below.

  1. Make a list, and check it twice. Just because you have a large circle of friends does not mean you have to buy a gift for everyone. Write a list of the important people you actually want to buy a gift for (this includes mom and dad, a best friend, close siblings, your partner) and as for everyone else? A nice holiday card will do.
  2. Budget. For the holidays, choose a spending limit and stick to it! Ideally you won't want to be spending more than 1.5% of your annual income on presents.
  3. Get creative. Who says a gift has to be store-bought? Put your own personal skills and talents to good use and get creative. Bake someone a pie. Put together your own DIY gift basket. Gift a scrapbook full of photographs to your special someone. Pinterest and the internet in general are endless sources of crafty holiday gift ideas that you can just make yourself!

Happy shopping and holidays!
