Greta Thunberg was arrested on Saturday, April 6, for trying to block a major highway in the heart of The Hague with around a hundred other protestors. They were aiming to block the A12 road for the 37th time, but the activists were thwarted by police officers who encircled and detained them. The protesters, brandishing Extinction Rebellion (XR) flags and placards with messages like "Stop fuel subsidies now!" and "The planet is dying!", were taken into custody amidst the demonstration. Thunberg looked calm and collected as she was dragged into a police bus by officers, flashing a victory sign to the crowd. This certainly wasn't her first time being detained, as Thunberg has been fined many times in Sweden and the UK for civil disobedience in relation to climate protests.

She first rose to international fame at the age of 16  with a distinct perspective and message for the world: let's save our planet. Greta has drawn support from her home country of Sweden, in addition to other countries around the world. However, she's also made some enemies, with political and corporate critics, too.

Clearly, she's a force to be reckoned with. From her early beginnings to world domination, click through to learn more about the young superhero, Greta Thunberg.
