Meet the youngest and oldest Oscar winners
Anthony Hopkins becomes oldest Oscar winner ever
In one of the biggest surprises of the night, the Best Actor category was left to the end in what many believe was a move anticipated to celebrate the late Chadwick Boseman, but instead the great Anthony Hopkins was announced as the winner for his role in 'The Father.'
The celebrated actor was not even present to accept his award, which is his first win since 1992 when he took home an Oscar for his role in 'The Silence of the Lambs.' Despite the surprise victory, the 83-year-old actor still made history as the oldest Oscar winner ever, dethroning the late Christopher Plummer who at age 82 took home the Best Supporting Actor award in 2011 for his role in 'Beginners.'
When it comes to winning Oscars, you're never too old (or young)! Though it can seem like most prizewinners are glamorous adults, there have been many children and older stars who have took home a trophy too. Click on to meet the youngest and oldest Oscar winners of all time.
