Taylor Swift and others with hit gay anthems

Arguably this summer’s major gay anthem, Taylor Swift’s 'You Need to Calm Down’ also made one very entertaining music video. So much so that it picked up the Video of the Year award at this year's MTV Video Music Awards. But when she used this platform to speak out in favor of LGBTQ rights, she was met with backlash from certain conservative audiences, including White House adviser Kellyanne Conway, who mockingly sang a line from the song while making an appearance on Fox News.
Conway may not be a real fan of the tune, but certainly in this last century every generation has had more than their fair share of gay anthems. While 'You Need to Calm Down’ wouldn’t have fit in with the disco hits of the ‘70s, it’s posed to become this year’s gay anthem, if not the next decade’s.
