- New environmental policies and shocking stories from media across the globe have been making us increasingly aware of the effect that plastic waste is having on the world's oceans, and in particular the creatures that live in them.
When we aren't faced with a physical problem right in front of us, however, it is hard to understand just how serious the reality is.

This year's World Oceans Day is celebrated on June 8, and its focus on the effect of plastic pollution in the world's oceans couldn't have come at a better time.
