Luna Park - The Luna Park ghost train tragedy is riddled with mystery and sadness. The year was 1979, and Jenny and John Godson took their two sons to a day out at Sydney's Luna Park.

Last Ride - At the end of the evening the family had some tickets left, so the father and boys decided to finish the night off with a ride on the ghost train while the mother went for ice cream.

Worst nightmare - On her return she found the ghost train engulfed in flames. Jenny Godson's husband and two boys, along with four other passengers, didn’t make it out.

Demonic - After the tragedy, Godson was looking through photos and found the last photo taken of her son Damien. It showed the little boy shyly posing next to an intimidating figure wearing a demonic-looking mask with horns on his head.

Mystery - The demonic looking man was never found and nobody can remember seeing him with the family. Was it an apparition?

Moloch - Comparisons were made between the mysterious figure and the god-demon Moloch. It is believed that Moloch preferred children to be burned alive in sacrifice. Terrifying.

Somerton Man - This is one of Australia's greatest mysteries. On December 1, 1948, a man was found dead on Somerton Beach in Adelaide.

No clue - Nobody knew who he was, or how he died, but as they searched his body they discovered the case was nothing short of dumbfounding. He was well-built, clean shaven, and found nicely dressed in a suit and tie. He had no real belongings on him, no identification, and the tags on his clothes had been removed.

Secret - Upon further inspection, police found a strange note in a hidden pocket tucked away in the waistband of his trousers.

Tamam Shud - Inside they found a tightly rolled piece of paper bearing the words "Tamam Shud". This phrase appears at the end of the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam, an 11th-century book of Persian poems.

Translation - When directly translated Tamam Shud means "the end" or "finished".

Stranger - A few weeks after the paper was found, a businessman came forward with a copy of the Rubaiyat, claiming it had been thrown into his car through an open window. The "Tamam Shud" page that should have been at the end of the book was missing.

Curious - To add even more intrigue, the back cover of the book had five lines of letters and at least one phone number scribbled on.

Nurse - The codes could not be cracked but the phone number led the police to the door of a young nurse.

Plaster cast - The body of the mysterious dead man had long been buried but a plaster cast had been made. When the nurse saw the cast she looked as if she would faint but denied all knowledge of ever knowing him.

Search continues - Professor Derek Abbott from Adelaide is still on the cold case whilst everyone else has given up. He has found a few new clues and is preparing his third petition to exhume the Somerton Man's body.

The curious disappearance of Rhianna Barreau - Rhianna Barreau was just 12 in 1992, when she walked to the local South Australian mall to buy a card to send to her American penpal. The buses were on strike but her mother gave her permission to walk.

Seen - Witnesses claim to have seen her along the Highway Drive just before lunchtime. This was the last time she was ever seen.

Return - When her mother returned to the house she found an eerie sight. The card that Rhianna had gone to buy was on the table.

Rip - Witnesses on the beach told police the tide was unusually high with a strong undercurrent that day. Some said it was the highest they'd ever seen it.

Back of his hand - One of the last things Holt had said to the group he was with before he went into the water was, "I know this beach like the back of my hand."

Harold Holt - The public, police and even the Australian army amassed on the beach in a vain attempt to find the missing Prime Minister. The search involved up to 300 people but was finally called off on January 5.
