The US Secretary of Education, Betsy DeVos, has been a controversial talking point since her election to the role. She recently appeared as a guest on '60 Minutes,' where her vague answers and open bias towards underprivileged education have her being devoured online.
Interviewed by journalist Leslie Stahl, DeVos suffered through the interview with a smile on her face, but if she is anywhere near a Twitter account, she may not be so happy.
When Stahl began to question the results in Michigan of moving funding away from underperforming schools, DeVos responded saying, "I don't know. I can't say overall that they have all gotten better." And when asked what schools she had helped in her home state, DeVos said she had "not intentionally visited" any underperforming schools.
Jamil Smith, a senior writer at Rolling Stone who once wrote a scathing article about DeVos, followed up with this tweet, "I have long maintained that @BetsyDeVosED is the most dangerous Cabinet secretary in the Trump administration, and tonight’s @60Minutes interview further exposed her utter incompetence and bewildering policies. I just watched it in full, and so should you."
DeVos claimed her harsh criticism came from just being "misunderstood," but after this telling interview, many believe they know just what kind of leader she is.
