Hi-tech trainers are here to update your wardrobe
Chunky trainers are a hit with brands around the world
FASHION Trainers
Hi-tech trainers have been spotted at runway shows for Prada, Valentino, and Louis Vuitton this past season. The super-sized and intricate shoes are being championed by everyone from Raf Simons to Adidas and Balenciaga. But who are doing hi-tech shoes right?
Stella McCartney has hit a home-run with its Eclypse Colour Block Sneakers. The shoe has been redesigned for this spring season, featuring a cushion soft lining and Velcro fastening. Rick Owens’s hi-tech design for Adidas is another highlight. The low-top sneakers are suede with perforated details and milk-white rubber soles. Meanwhile, Fila took it back to the future with their chunky Disruptor II trainers. The shoes blend style and sportswear with ease, with a white leather build and razor-edge sole.
Other brands doing chunky trainers right include Vetements. The French fashion house reworked a Reebok classic with their distressed leather low-top trainers. The look is distinctly pre-loved, falling in line with Vetements’ signature ‘90s-inspired streetwear.
