Today, Prince William paid a visit to help with the rebuilding around Grenfell Tower. Last year, a fire broke out at Grenfell Tower, destroying the building and claiming 71 lives. The team from ‘DIY SOS’, a renovation TV show, are working to build a sport and community centre. The area’s Dale Youth Boxing Club was also destroyed in last year’s fires. Kensington Palace announced the visitation on Twitter.
“Today The Duke of Cambridge joined the crew of [DIY SOS] on a major project to support people affected by the devastating fire at Grenfell Tower”, they wrote. During his visit, the Duke of Cambridge joined volunteers from the ‘DIY SOS’ crew. Sporting a helmet and high-vis jacket, the Prince was photographed painting and talking with the crew. On Twitter, the Palace noted that the old club “nurtured 200 Amateur Boxing Association champions over the past 60 years”. However, the new centre isn’t just for boxers. In fact, Kensington Palace says the space “will be available for the community to use for a range of activities”.
‘DIY SOS’, hosted by Nick Knowles, will broadcast a two part special later this year.
