Will pregnant Meghan Markle still go to countries with Zika virus warnings?
Should she go to Fiji and Tonga?
CELEBRITY British royal family
Congratulations to the British royal family! Just following Princess Eugenies wedding, Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle has officially announced her pregnancy.
While everyone is ecstatic about the new addition to the family, Markle's pregnancy does mean she needs to take further caution and consideration in her upcoming travels.
On their royal tour, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are set to visit Fiji and Tonga after heading to Australia. Even though there have been warnings about Zika virus transmission, pregnant Meghan Markle will still go forward with her plans, according to a royal correspondent.
The Zika virus is primarily transmitted through mosquito bites and is especially dangerous for pregnant women. If infected, the virus can cause microcephaly and other severe fetal brain defects.
There are currently no vaccines that cure or prevent the Zika virus.
