▲The final leg of your once-in-a-lifetime adventure will mean a long journey back to the US before crossing the North Atlantic to the land of ice and fire.
▲One night in Bangkok... not long to absorb one of the most vibrant and chaotic cities in the world, but enough time to enjoy the street life and some of the tastiest gastronomy on the planet.
▲The short jaunt to Jordan is your gateway to this magical Arab nation and all its cultural and historical treasures.
▲Next, Egypt beckons. The land of the pharaohs never ceases to amaze, and bustling Cairo is just the start!
▲Travel back thousands of years as you wander through the magnificent ruins of Luxor and discover for yourself the splendor that is the Valley of the Kings. Afterwards, take in the mighty River Nile from the comfort of a sailboat.

▲It doesn't get much crazier than this—150 km (94 mi) of churning fury. You'll be busy, but do find time to admire the park's weird rainbow-hued rock formations along the way.
▲This next leg takes you across the Pacific Ocean to the USA and the deserts of the American southwest. Salt Lake City will greet jet-lagged adventurers, but there'll be little time to rest. Quicker than you can crack a whip, it's off to Moab, a popular adventure tourism hot spot.

▲Gazing upon the dramatic landscape of Chilean Patagonia is a fitting finale to the South American leg of the journey. The pristine environment is Mother Nature at its best.
▲This is outdoors central. A three-day hike out of Wilpena Pound surrounded by mountains formed millions of years ago. Look out for the residents—kangaroos, wallabies, and, well, the odd snake probably.
▲The Himalaya experience continues in this little-visited country. Hike a mountain trail, stopping for tea on the way, before arriving at Taktsang Monastery, one of Bhutan's major pilgrimage destinations.
▲Still on the African continent, what is a trip to this part of the world without experiencing a safari? Tick off the Big Five during one of the wildest stops of your around the world adventure.
▲Next destination: the land of the rising sun. Well, Osaka to be exact. This colorful Japanese city is your introduction to this incredible country.
▲Define extreme sports. Yep, whitewater rafting is up with the best of them. This is where you'll paddle through the spectacular Canyonlands National Park while tackling some of the world's most tumultuous rapids.
▲You'll spend three days among the fjords of the Southern Ice Field. Say hello to inquisitive penguins while sea kayaking and hiking across crystal glaciers.
▲Travelling further east, this African country is regarded as the birthplace of humanity. It's also the origin of the Rastafarian faith.
▲South America is next. And what a destination! The hallowed Galápagos provide a haven for some of the most diverse animal and marine life on the planet. Meet and greet the wildlife and then relax with a spot of kayaking and sailing.
▲By now you're half way round the world, and Down Under big time! After arriving in Sydney, the next port of call is Adelaide before heading into the outback.
▲A highlight, literally, will be a helicopter flight over what New Zealand does best—ice-carved mountains, shimmering glaciers, and remote yawning valleys.
▲First stop Romania! Explore Bucharest's Old Town and its collection of fine 19th-century buildings.
▲After absorbing Bukhara's fascinating history it's off to Samarkand, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Be sure to browse the mosques, museums, mausoleums, and markets.
▲From Nairobi to Nepal, and all the cultural clout this landlocked South Asia country has to offer. Begin exploring in the capital, Kathmandu, with its beautiful temples and busy bazaars.
▲The itinerary includes journeying into Dracula territory and hiking through the Carpathian mountains.
▲Famed for their artisan handicraft, the villagers are friendly and welcoming and you'll leave much the wiser for your experience. Afterwards it's a few days in Beijing—the contrast couldn't be greater!
▲Oz's neighbor and the land of Middle Earth, New Zealand is your next destination. Here you'll have the chance to immerse yourself in Maori culture by getting to know one of the scattered communities off the beaten track.
▲After resting up in Reykjavík it's out and about to discover Akureyri and the mirror-like Lake Myvatn, its shoreline studded with clumps of volcanic rock.
▲Among the highlights on this leg of your circumnavigation of the world is Petra, surely one of the most famous archaeological sites in the world.

How about this for a trip of a lifetime? Airbnb has announced a travel package that takes in 18 countries on six continents in 80 days. If that itinerary sounds familiar, it's because Airbnb has drawn inspiration from the classic Jules Verne novel 'Around the World in Eighty Days' and the fictional Phileas Fogg's attempt to circumnavigate the world in 80 days in a hot-air balloon.

But is it really possible to circle the globe in a little over 11 weeks? Airbnb thinks so, and is offering some lucky people the opportunity to do just that with an amazing new trip that'll cost just US$5,000 ( €4,468) per person.

Launched to coincide with its new Adventures initiative, which will set up travelers with exclusive and "daring" two-to-10-day trips with hosts in destinations all across the globe, Airbnb has designed a travel itinerary that commences with stays in England, Romania, and Uzbekistan, then countries through the Middle East to parts of Africa, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and both South and North America before making a stop in Iceland and finishing back in England.

The fee covers accommodation, transfers, and transportation between all the destinations. There's even the possibility of a hot-air balloon flight! Those lucky enough to secure a place will have to meet certain meal and other incidental expenses along the way, plus a round-trip ticket to London, the departure city.

And here's the thing. This is considered a "social impact experience" and to that end, 100% of revenue generated will be donated to the Malala Fund, the non-profit organization founded by Nobel Peace Prize recipient Malala Yousafzai, which works to give every girl 12 years and older a free, safe, and quality education.

To get the chance to travel around the world in 80 days, check out the dedicated Airbnb website for more details and how to apply.
