The footprints were uncovered near Madar village, about 50 km (31 mi) north of Sana'a. Sadly, due to ongoing civil conflict and the ever-present threat of terrorism, it's unlikely any members of the public will cast their eyes over this momentous find.

In 2008 the tracks of a herd of 11 sauropods were unearthed across a coastal mudflat in what is now the Republic of Yemen. This marked the first discovery of dinosaur footprints on the Arabian peninsula.

▲Dinosaur footprints are scarce in Africa, but at the Tsehlanyane Nature Reserve in Lesotho, "dino-tourists" are in for a treat. The best places to find these footprints are Morija, Subeng Stream—between Leribe and Butha-Buthe—and Tsikoane, close to Leribe.

▲Located near the city of Sucre, the park features a near-vertical limestone cliff embedded with 5,055 dinosaur footprints from around 15 species.

▲A collection of some of the biggest dinosaur footprints ever recorded can be marveled at near the village of Plagne, 48 km (30 mi) west of Geneva.

▲Spain’s Castile and León region is known to have a number of fossilized dinosaur footprints found north of Soria, at places like Santa Cruz de Yanguas and other highland locations.

▲Preserved in the reef rock of this promontory for over 125 million years and visible at low tide are the vivid footprints of dinosaurs.

▲Set in the wild and barren headland south of Lisbon are footprints formed by a herd of sauropods, including juveniles (their tracks can be clearly seen in the center of the picture).

▲The tracks, which can be seen about 30 m (98 ft) out to sea, have made Gantheaume Point, located near Broome in Western Australia, a popular "dino-tourist" destination.

▲Compton Bay of the Isle of Wight is a paleontologist's paradise. The fossilized remains of 20 different species of dinosaur have been found here as well as dozens of tracks, which are preserved as footcasts (pictured).

▲The highest concentration of tracks are found at La Era del Peladillo. Here, 1766 dinosaur footprints have been identified, making it Europe's premiere dinosaur footprint site, and the third most important in the world in terms of number of tracks.

▲Dampier Peninsula's "dinosaur coast" in the Kimberley region of Western Australia rivals Gantheaume Point for fantastic footprints. In fact, the dinosaur tracks are the most diverse and numerous in Australia, and unparalleled globally.

▲Located just a few hours from Seoul, Goseong County in South Gyeongsang province is home to a remarkable set of dinosaur footprints, among the best-preserved on the planet.

▲Low tide on the beach near the Atlantic coast town of Talmont-Saint-Hilaire reveals the country's most impressive collection of dinosaur footprints, made some 150 million years ago by the likes of Stegosaurus, Diplodocus, and other iconic Jurassic-period dinosaurs.

▲The tracks are set under cliffs along the coast within the boundaries of Sangjokam Country Park. Around 4,000 footprints have been recorded in the area, found along over 420 walking trails the huge beasts used.

▲The well-preserved footprints include those from ornithopods, herbivorous creatures who walked on two legs, the carnivorous Megalosaurus, and the omnivorous Cetiosaurus and Stegosaurus.

▲Set in the beach at An Corran in Staffin are the tracks from families of dinosaurs that walked across the sand here some 165 million years ago.

▲Most impressive of these is the world-record setting 347-m (1,138-ft) trail left by a baby Tyrannosaurus Rex known as "Johnny Walker." The park is currently in the process of becoming a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
