Congratulations! So, you've decided to have a baby, and now it's time to start thinking about what to do before you actually get pregnant.

We all know that being healthy is key to a successful pregnancy, but how do you go about it? What steps should you take after you make the decision to conceive?

With this in mind, we've put a list together of key steps to take, every day for 30 days, so that you can have the best pregnancy experience possible.

▲Stop birth control. This is step number one if you're going to start trying for a baby.
▲Start taking prenatal vitamins. These are specifically formulated to meet your dietary needs before trying to conceive.
▲Take folic acid. This supplement is very important to prevent neural tube defects in the beginning of the pregnancy.
▲Fine-tune your diet. Make sure you're eating healthy and balanced meals.
▲Exercise. If you normally don't, this is a great time to start working out. Exercising will help you to be better prepared for pregnancy.
▲Get a check up. It's important to check the state of your health and rule out any problems that may become exacerbated by pregnancy.
▲Check your vaccinations. You might have missed some, so for the sake of your and your baby's health, it's important to have these all up to date.
▲See an obstetrician. It's always a good idea to make a preconception appointment with a specialist.
▲Track your menstrual cycle. Knowing when you're ovulating is important to increase your chances of getting pregnant.
▲Avoid exposure to toxins. Do so by going BPA free, eliminating chemical products from your home, eating organic foods, etc.
▲Find ways to release stress. Deep breathing exercises or a walk in nature can really help keep your stress levels in check.
▲Try yoga. Yoga has numerous benefits for both your physical and mental health. Some places even offer yoga for fertility classes.
▲Go to the dentist. Pregnancy can affect your gums and teeth, so it's important to get everything checked out beforehand.
▲Quit smoking, alcohol, and any other drugs. This one is pretty self-explanatory.
▲Have sex. Lots of it. This is the fun part of trying to conceive, so enjoy it!
▲Check your weight. While BMI is not a very reliable tool, it might still be useful as a reference. Being underweight or obese can be problematic, so talk to your doctor about it.
▲Look into your family medical history. Some conditions might be genetic, so you should be aware of any problems that may come up.
▲Talk to your doctor about any prescription medications you're taking. Some drugs might not be safe to take when you're pregnant.
▲Sleep. Developing a good sleeping schedule is important, and believe us, you'll miss a good night's sleep when you have a baby.
▲Cut down on caffeine. High levels of caffeine can affect your pregnancy, so try to decrease your caffeine intake gradually.
▲Drink water. Keeping hydrated is important and you will drink more when you're pregnant, so it's better to get used to it now.
▲Learn about conception. It's important to understand how you get pregnant and what happens in your body.
▲If you're going the "traditional" route, talk to your partner about him getting checked out. It's important that the future father of your child is healthy.
▲Boost your immune system. Increase your intake of foods containing antioxidants and vitamin C.
▲Learn what you can and can't do during pregnancy. For instance, did you know that pregnant woman are more likely to get food poisoning caused by listeria?
▲Avoid moving heavy weights. While you'll want to keep active, avoid moving heavy loads as these can cause menstrual problems, and even miscarriages.
▲Don't undergo extreme forces. Some activities such as skydiving or riding on a roller coaster can cause a placental abruption.
▲Check your health insurance coverage. It is important to know beforehand what your insurance will take care of.
▲Talk openly with your partner. It might take a while before you conceive, so it's important to have open communication between you and your partner about it.
