Some allergies are far more common than others. And while some people may only experience occasional and mild symptoms, for others an allergy can be a matter of life and death. If you are in doubt, it's always a good idea to get an allergy test.

Symptoms of an allergen to balsam include redness, swelling, itching, dermatitis, stomatitis, cheilitis, rash pruritus, eczema, and conjunctivitis.

Balsam can be found in a huge number of things including, but not limited to, beer, wine, gin, cola, juice, paprika, ginger, chocolate, vanilla, chewing gum, and candy.

If you are allergic to eggs, you could find yourself with anaphylaxis or swelling. Sometimes the allergy manifests itself with lesser symptoms, such as flatulence and/or vomiting.

It's also worth remembering that just because certain individuals are allergic to egg yolk, this doesn't mean that they will necessarily be allergic to egg white, and vice versa.

An allergic reaction to fish can result in respiratory reactions, anaphylaxis, oral allergy syndrome, and vomiting.

Someone with a fish allergy has a 50% chance of being allergic to many different kinds of fish. However, they may be just allergic to one species.

Adverse reactions to fruit can range from mild itching and a rash to generalized urticaria, oral allergy syndrome, abdominal pain, vomiting, and anaphylaxis.

Mangoes, strawberries, and bananas are the fruits that cause the most allergic reactions. Tomatoes and avocados can also cause similar issues.

Allergic reactions to garlic may include dermatitis, asymmetrical pattern of fissure, thickening or shedding of the outer skin layers, and anaphylaxis.

An allergic reaction to chili peppers can result in a skin rash, hives, tightness of the throat, swelling of the tongue, and vomiting.

An allergic reaction to oats can manifest itself in dermatitis, respiratory problems, or with anaphylaxis.

An allergy to corn can produce a very large number of symptoms, such as hives, pallor, confusion, dizziness, stomach pain, swelling, vomiting, indigestion, diarrhea, cough, tightness of the throat, wheezing, shortness of breath, and anaphylaxis.

An allergic reaction to milk can result in skin rash, hives, vomiting, stomach pain, diarrhea, constipation, flatulence, nasal congestion, dermatitis, blisters, and anaphylaxis.

Symptoms of an allergic reaction to poultry can include angioedema, hives, oral allergy syndrome, vomiting, diarrhea, shortness of breath, and anaphylaxis (although this is rare).

An allergy to peanuts can lead to swelling, vomiting, and anaphylaxis. It is a different allergy to that of tree nuts, as peanuts are legumes.

If someone has an allergic reaction to red meat, this can manifest itself in hives, dizziness, fainting, swelling, dermatitis, stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, shortness of breath, and anaphylaxis, which is rare.

Allergies to red meat are linked to the sugar carbohydrate that is found in beef, venison, and lamb. Named alpha-gal, it is caused by tick bites.

The symptoms of a rice allergy are usually relatively mild. They include sneezing, itching, stomach ache, and eczema.

An allergic reaction to sesame can result in respiratory, skin, and gastrointestinal reactions, which can lead to serious systemic anaphylactic responses.
