A Delta Air Lines plane caught fire on the runway at Orlando International Airport, prompting an emergency evacuation of all passengers via inflatable slides, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The incident occurred on April 21 around 11:15 am as Flight 1213, bound for Atlanta, was pushing back from the gate.
Delta said flames were spotted in the engine exhaust of one of the aircraft’s two engines, and the fire was quickly contained by emergency crews. The Airbus 330 was carrying 282 passengers, along with 10 flight attendants and two pilots.
No injuries were reported, and the FAA is continuing to investigate the cause of the fire.
