It's an impressive achievement to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame multiple times. Indeed, only a select few managed it in the long history of music. Most of these artists were recognized for both their groups and solo works. While the vast majority of them have been inducted twice, there is one exception to the rule.

The Prince of Darkness has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame more than once. The first time was in 2006 with Black Sabbath, and the second was as a solo artist in 2024.
John Lennon was the first Beatle to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice, but unfortunately, it was posthumous on both occasions. The first time was in 1988 with The Beatles, and then for his solo career, in 1994.
Paul McCartney is also a double inductee. He first had his name added to the Hall of Fame as part of the Fab Four in 1988. McCartney was inducted for a second time in 1999.
Stevie Nicks attended the first induction ceremony in 1998, as a member of Fleetwood Mac. The singer's solo career was then recognized by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2019, when she became the first woman ever to be inducted twice.
Paul Simon attended his first ceremony in 1990 when Simon & Garfunkel were inducted. The singer-songwriter was then inducted as a solo artist in 2001.
In 2010, Genesis, the band Peter Gabriel fronted until 1975, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Peter Gabriel's successful solo career was later recognized in 2014.
Guitarist Ronnie Wood was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with The Rolling Stones in 1989. He was inducted a second time in 2012, as a member of his previous band, the Faces.
The Velvet Underground was recognized for its contribution to music in 1996. Lou Reed didn't live to see his second induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, which took place in 2015.
Eric Clapton is the only musician ever to have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame three times. The English guitarist and singer-songwriter was first inducted in 1992, as a member of the Yardbirds. In 1993, Clapton was inducted as a member of Cream, and in 2000, he received the honor yet again—this time for his solo career.
The iconic guitarist first got inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1992 as a member of the Yardbirds. Then in 2009, Jeff Beck's work as a solo artist was also recognized.
George Harrison was the third Beatle to be inducted twice. The first time was with his bandmates in 1988, and then as a solo artist, posthumously, in 2004.
The singer was first inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1991 as part of the duo Ike & Tina Turner. She was then inducted as a solo artist in 2021.
Like Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck, guitarist Jimmy Page was also inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the Yardbirds. Then in 1995, Page was inducted for his work with Led Zeppelin.
Dave Grohl was first inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014 as a member of Nirvana. He received the honor again with the Foo Fighters in 2021.
Unlike most music artists on this list, Rod Stewart was first inducted as a solo artist in 1994. He was then inducted again in 2012 as a member of the Faces.
The last Beatle to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice was the band's drummer, Ringo Starr. In 2015, he received the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Award for Musical Excellence (AME).
Michael Jackson was first inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the Jackson 5 in 1997, and then as a solo artist in 2001.
The singer-songwriter got his first induction in 1997 as part of Crosby, Stills & Nash. He was then inducted again in 2010, this time as a member of his first band, the Hollies.
Unlike other artists on this list, Carole King was initially not inducted as a performer, but as a songwriter. King received a 'Non-Performer Award' in 1990. However, her induction as a performer eventually happened in 2021.
David Crosby is another Crosby, Stills & Nash member to be inducted in 1997. Before that, Crosby was inducted as a member of the Byrds in 1993.
The singer-songwriter was inducted twice in the same evening in 1997. Stills was inducted as a member of Buffalo Springfield and also as a member of Crosby, Stills & Nash.
Neil Young was first inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995 as a solo artist. Then in 1997, he was inducted again, this time with Buffalo Springfield. However, the singer-songwriter boycotted the ceremony because the event was televised.
Gregg Rolie cofounded both Santana and Journey. His talent was recognized as a member of Santana in 1998, and then in 2017 with Journey.
The singer was honored posthumously by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. First in 1987 as a solo artist, and then in 1988 as a member of the Drifters.
Soul music icon Curtis Mayfield was first inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1991 as a member of the R&B and doo-wop group The Impressions. Mayfield was inducted for a second time for his solo career in 1999.
Sammy Strain was a member of the group Little Anthony and the Imperials. They were inducted in 2009. But before that, Strain was inducted as a member of another group in 2005: The O'Jays.
Johnny Carter (middle) was inducted as a member of the Flamingos in 2001. He was later inducted again with the R&B group The Dells in 2004.
