▲In 2013, a mountain climber found a box with around 100 precious jewels in Mont Blanc, France.

It's believed that the bones belong to pilgrims who were crossing the mountains with the help of local guides. They were caught in violent hailstorms and died.

▲Russian scientists discovered 32,000-year-old seeds of a plant called Silene stenophylla in Siberia. They later managed to plant and grow it!

▲The seeds were apparently buried by squirrels near the banks of the Kolyma River during the Ice Age.

▲The melting of glaciers in Norway's Oppland County have unveiled a number of Iron Age artifacts.

▲But probably the most fascinating discovery was an Iron Age tunic, estimated to be dated between 230 CE and 390 CE.

▲A carcass of a reindeer that died over 75 years ago was responsible for an anthrax outbreak in Siberia, Russia, in 2016.

▲Unusually high temperatures for the region (potentially caused by global warming) melted the ice and exposed the carcass. Many people were hospitalized and 1,200 reindeer died.

▲A glacier outside Cooke City in Montana, US, is filled with millions of grasshoppers.

▲This species has already been extinct for around 200 years, and it's suspected that these particular specimens died during a snowstorm.

▲In 2012, Russian scientists discovered a sub-glacial lake in Antarctica.

▲The lake is estimated to be 25 million years old, but despite being under ice, it's teaming with life and it contains many unknown bacteria.

▲Two brothers were fishing on Wawasee Lake in Indiana, US, when they found a frozen pike eating a bass.

An 18,000-year-old puppy was found frozen in permafrost.

Found near the city of Yakutsk in Russia, the pup was "unusually well-preserved, with its hair, teeth, whiskers, and eyelashes still intact."

The theory is that the pike choked on the bass, died, and froze.
