▲Rihanna has a beautiful italicized tattoo on the left side of her neck that reads "Rebelle Fleur." The tat is supposed to mean "rebellious flower" in French—but it doesn't.

"Rebelle Fleur" isn't something a French person would say. The tat should instead read "Fleur Rebelle," because the adjective comes after the noun in French. Rihanna has kept the tattoo despite the well-known error.

▲But Rihanna also has a tattoo misspelled in Sanskrit on her hip. Her hip tattoo is supposed to read "forgiveness, honesty, suppression and control," which is part of a Hindu prayer. But it was mistranslated to "long suffering, truthfulness, self-restraint, inward calm, fear and fearlessness." The prayer is also incomplete.

▲Britney Spears long dominated the misspelled tattoo game. One is on her hip, which you can just barely see here in this photo. The Chinese character is supposed to mean "mysterious," but actually means "strange."

▲On the back her neck, the singer got a Kabbalah tattoo that was supposed to mean "God," but came out as something no one's quite sure what to make of.

▲Britney Spears is believed to have removed one, if not both, of her misspelled tattoos.

▲In a rare case of getting a misspelled tattoo but actually being thankful for it, Christina Aguilera managed to accidentally save herself from embarrassment with this tat on her left arm.

▲Aguilera intended to get her then-husband's initials (J.B.) tattooed on her arm in Hebrew. Instead, she got the number 12. The two are now divorced and Aguilera got the tattoo removed.

▲A-lister Jennifer Lawrence got a B-rated tattoo on her right hand when she was with Liam Hemsworth's family.

▲While Lawrence intended to get "H20" tattooed on her hand, which you can just make out in this photo, the "2" is situated higher than the "H" and "O," when it should be below.

▲The former soccer superstar has a great many tattoos, including one in Sanskrit of his wife's name on his left arm. But the tattoo artist misspelled Posh's first name.

David Beckham's tattoo reads "Vihctoria" in Sanskrit, instead of "Victoria." He hasn't removed the tattoo to date.

▲'Nashville' and 'Heroes' star Hayden Panettiere told the world that her tattoo stating "Vivere senza rimipianti" means "live without regrets" in Italian. Except there's a problem.

▲The last word should read "rimpianti." At least Panettiere has acknowledged the irony of misspelling "regrets" in permanent ink on her body.

Joking with Glamour magazine that she now had to live with the advice of "live without ragrets," she later had the tattoo removed.

▲Kevin Durant has a great deal of tattoos on his torso, and his back has a massively long quote from the Bible from James 1:2-4. But there's a typo in the long passage.

▲"Let it do its work so you become mautre and well-developed, not deficient in any way," reads Durant's tattoo, which misspelled "mature."

▲'Twilight' actress Ashley Greene got this tattoo on her left foot, reading "Lifes a dance." What's worse, messing up a tattoo in a foreign langugage or your native language?

▲While the mistake isn't a huge one, not putting an apostrophe in "lifes" lessens the tattoo's quality all the same.

▲Rapper and actor Coolio decided to get a tattoo in honor of juggalos, the fan club of the Insane Clown Posse who wear clown makeup and were briefly suspected of being a terrorist organization by the FBI. But wait, it gets better.

▲Coolio's tattoo reads "Jugalo Cool," using only one 'g.' When asked about the typo, Coolio insisted it was an intentional misspelling and wouldn't change it.

▲Nicole Richie didn't misspell her tattoo, she just made a rather strange choice. The reality star-turned-actress is a Virgo, the astrological sign represented by The Virgin. So instead of getting Virgo tattooed on her arm, she decided "Virgin" was better.

▲Again, she intended to have "Virgin" tattooed on her wrist. Richie herself has conceded that it's a strange tattoo.

▲Emma Watson showed up to a 2018 Oscars after party with a tattoo that read "Times up," this in reference to the Me Too movement.

▲Thankfully for Watson, the tattoo that was missing an apostrophe was just temporary ink.

▲So it's clear by now that Ariana Grande isn't alone when it comes to famous people misspelling their tattoos. But what she's done since has truly set her apart from the rest.

▲After she got a tattoo that reads "BBQ Grill" instead of "7 Rings," Grande then claimed she was studying Japanese and only needed to add one character for the tattoo to make sense.

But after apparently fixing the tattoo, it instead read "tiny Japanese charcoal grill," and certainly still not "7 Rings."

The successful singer recently showed off her stunning body in a new Instagram post, which also featured a new tattoo. "Don't loose who you are in the blur of the stars," reads the ink. "Yes I spelt the tattoo wrong," wrote Jessie J. "Yes I was 18."

Tattoos are, more or less, for life, so there's not much room for error. Unfortunately, bad tattoos happen every day, and not even celebs are exempt from incorrect ink. Take Jessie J, who recently showed off a misspelled tattoo to her fans.
