▲The actress has proved time and time again that she supports equality for all, and in a heartwarming open letter she wrote, "Sam is my youngest son, by 18 years, and he's gay. To that, I say: So what?"
▲Warren Beatty and Annette Bening’s son Stephen is a transgender activist and a poet. In a 2016 interview with Vanity Fair, the legendary actor said of his son, “He’s a revolutionary, a genius, and my hero.”
▲Beatty and Bening are loud about their support now, as Bening told The Observer, “I’m super proud of him” in 2017. But they’re often asked about their long silence since Stephen came out over a decade ago. "I leave it to him to say what he wants about his life," Bening retorts. "I don’t think it’s fair for me to speak for any of my kids, quite frankly."
▲Even though Cher is a proud social activist for LGBT rights and HIV/AIDS prevention, she struggled with how public her son Chaz Bono's transition was. When he first told her what he wanted to do, she responded, "Well, if you're miserable, then you've got to do it." Things have since been easier, and Cher has been very vocal about supporting him in his on-screen endeavors.
▲Depp's daughter Lily-Rose has publicly identified herself as sexually fluid and "somewhere on the vast spectrum" when she joined the Self Evident Truths photo project. Her father told the Daily Mail that he had already known because, "She's not afraid to say anything to me. We're super tight and I'm very proud of our relationship… I'm there for her."
▲The famed singer is also the proud mother of gay actor-singer Jason Gould. Though she's private about her son's sexuality, she's a fierce supporter of the LGBT community, writing in a gay pride love letter: "Marriage equality is the law and that deserves a toast!"
▲The actor expressed total respect and acceptance of his daughter's fluid sexuality during a 2015 episode of his podcast 'Here's the Thing.' Speaking with Amy Schumer, he shared that his daughter, Ireland, told him, "You don't sleep with a man or a woman. You sleep with the person," and he admitted he'd loved men in his life, though he'd never slept with a man himself.
▲The singer was raised Mormon, which is known for its conservative views on homosexuality. But her motherly love outweighed religion when daughter Jessica Blosil came out as a lesbian in 2009. Osmond told Diane Sawyer that her daughter deserves everything she wants. "I don’t think God made one color flower. I think he made many."
▲The NBA legend and HIV activist is also a loving and supportive dad to his openly gay son EJ. It was a tough ride when TMZ outed him in public, but Magic told Ellen DeGeneres that he was so happy when EJ came out. "If you don't support them, who is going to support them?"
▲Cookie Johnson joined Jada Pinkett Smith on her show 'Red Table Talk' in 2018, where she explained that she took great care in setting up their dialogue to make him feel comfortable enough to come out. She told EJ, "We will love you and support you no matter what."
▲The actress' son, journalist Ronan Farrow, first publicly identified as a member of the LGBT community in 2018, and he's expressed thanks for his support system, which includes his close relationship to his mother. His relationship with his father, Woody Allen, is unfortunately not the same.
▲In 2016, Miley Cyrus told Variety that she didn't feel she fit in a box for either gender or sexuality until she realized she was pansexual. Her father has always been open-minded, and told E! News after she came out, "Listen, it's all about love and light… She's rocking and rolling and having a good time. What the world needs is love."
▲The 'Moonlighting' actress has two queer daughters, one of whom is actress Clementine Ford, and she’s been a long-time supporter of LGBT rights, often participating in marches for equality. “I felt that I was responsible to stand up for the things that I believed in," she told Flagstaff Business News.
▲The actress feels that supporting her now-teenage son Hudson is an obvious answer, as she told Yahoo, "My son is openly gay. And, of course, I accept him. I love him unconditionally."
▲The 'Sex and the City' actress and New York gubernatorial candidate, who also happens to be married to a woman, took to Instagram to applaud her trans son Seph. "I'm so proud of my son Samuel Joseph Mozes (called Seph) who graduated college this month," wrote Nixon. "I salute him and everyone else marking today's #TransDayofAction."
▲In 2017, TV personality Kelly Osbourne told Pride Source, "You can't put a gender on love … I'm open to loving anybody. It's about the person." Her confidence and open-mindedness undeniably stems from her mother's openness, who one year prior stated, "I always think everybody is gay—so am I," and said she's extremely interested in what she missed out on.
▲The actress, best known for her role in 'The Breakfast Club,' was raised by a lesbian mother, so she's been a long-time advocate for gay rights and was completely prepared to support her son Beckett Lansbury, who is transgender. She asks parents who have trouble accepting their LGBT children, "Do you love that person or not?"
▲Sting's daughter, Eliot "Coco" Sumner is gender and sexually fluid, which hasn't been a problem at all for her human rights activist father. The musician said in a 1996 interview with The Advocate, "The whole business of sexuality is very strange to me. I mean, we all have the gay gene, don't we?"
▲When the actress/producer/director (and Sting's wife) was being questioned about her daughter's sexuality, she replied, "She identifies as a musician, and the conversation should end there."
▲The 'Interview with a Vampire' novelist has long been outspoken in support of the LGBT community, which includes her son Christopher. She supports him so much that she "quit" Christianity, unable to overlook certain views on same-sex marriage. "I will no longer tolerate hate speech in the guise of Christian belief with the usual irresponsible pick and choose Bible quotes and talk of 'sin' and hellfire."
▲The singer likes to keep her personal life private, but her recently-transitioned son, Izaak Theo, boasts about their relationship on social media. From happy photos of them hugging, calling Sade "my queen," to opening up about being trans and also being so lucky to "have family and friends that accept and love me just as I am," it's clear Sade is a supportive mom.
▲The Go-Go's singer's son, actor-activist James Duke Mason, came out to her when he was 14, and her first thought was worrying about what sort of world he'd be given. Carlisle attends marches for LGBT rights and famously said, "Pride is about showing the LGBTQ community that they have nothing to worry about—that everything is going to be okay."
▲The recently passed artist/author/socialite was the lucky mother of beloved anchorman Anderson Cooper, who is openly gay. In a mother-son interview for People, she told him, "I hope you know that I am more than 'okay' with it; I rejoice that you are gay! It's part of what makes you the person you are."
▲The 'Wheel of Fortune' co-host's son, Nikko Santo Pietro, has been very open about his relationship with Jaycee "Kesh" Akinsanya, and White once wrote, "We're all the same, no matter your skin color, size, sexual orientation or gender identity. We're all human, and we should treat each other as such."
▲The former NBA great stands proudly next to his son Zeke Thomas in support of equal rights movements like the NOH8 Campaign, for which they made a joint statement: "We believe that all hate and discrimination is wrong. It is time for full equality and equal rights for everyone, regardless of race, sexual orientation, religion, or gender."

The reality TV star, and R. Kelly's ex-wife, is mother to a transgender boy named Jay who came out at 13. Jay explained on Ask.fm that telling his mother made him more comfortable, "because I knew she would love me no matter what, she has not once judged me in life. She always told me that she loved me and to be who I truly am." Unfortunately, R. Kelly's stance was a little cloudier.

"I’ve been giving that some thought recently because a couple of other parents said that to me as well... I think you really don’t start thinking about that until you are a parent, and I think: obviously absolutely fine by me."
