As the saying goes, curiosity killed the cat. Sometimes it's better to stay ignorant about certain things. Things that do not really bring anything good to our lives, other than disgust, confusion, and maybe even paranoia.

It used to be a lot easier. All you had to do was avoid a topic. If need be, you just wouldn't watch TV or read the newspaper for a bit. But everything changed in the digital age. Most information is just a click away, which is both a blessing—and a curse. While search engines such as Google make our lives easier, they can also present us with search results for questions we shouldn't even be asking.

In this gallery you'll find a list of things you should never, ever search on Google. We know how hard it is to resist, but trust us on this one. While these Google searches will not kill you, they'll potentially disturb you, make you sick, and even get you arrested. You've been warned.

▲Dr. Google will deliver the bad news. You thought you had a cold? Surely it's a much more serious disease that will probably kill you in a matter of hours. Or not.
▲In 2013, a man googled "backpack" and "pressure cooker." Next thing he knew, the police were knocking on his door!
▲Never google this. You will probably end up throwing away all your bedding and even your mattress.
▲This probably doesn't come as a surprise given all the data breaches and privacy scandals lately on the news. Still, it might make you feel slightly uncomfortable.
▲

If you suffer from insomnia and decide to look it up online, beware you don't end up browsing through horror stories on Reddit.

▲Chances are, whatever you like to eat or do in your life will give you cancer. Somewhere, somehow, you'll find a link. So don't even go down that rabbit hole.
▲If you're scared of spiders, avoid googling this one. Yes, it's a giant spider and it will not do your arachnophobia any good.
▲

This is actually a fictional transmitted infection that allegedly affected female genitalia. The rumor was spread on the internet through a quite disturbing photo of an "infected" female genital area.

▲Belly buttons are a haven for bacteria. You can imagine what comes next, so let's just leave it at that.
▲This is the name used in Russia for homemade desomorphine, an opioid similar to heroin. The twisted thing? It's a deadly drug that essentially "eats" users' flesh from the inside out.
▲A trader was arrested for fraud. It later transpired that he Googled this question before buying stocks.
▲No cocktail jiggers are to be found here. Only a parasitic flea that lays eggs under your skin. Disgusted yet?
▲Maybe you were searching for 'moth larva' but the auto-correct made sure you ended up with other search results. The bottom line is that there are way too many stomach-turning images out there.
▲Although this has nothing to do with lemons, it will probably still leave a sour taste in your mouth. This is actually a shocking image of three elderly men in bed.
▲Removing a parasitic maggot from under a person's skin can be truly revolting.
▲It's all very nice when we see newborns in the arms of their mothers, all clean and cute. But childbirth itself can be quite visceral, graphic, and in some cases, disturbing.
▲No, it has nothing to do with math. This is essentially tartar buildup on teeth that can lead to a number of oral health problems.
▲This is a condition where babies are born with hard, thick skin that cracks. It's pretty heartbreaking to see infants suffering from this disorder.
▲Sounds like an innocent French name, right? Well, it's actually a type of gangrene that affects genitalia. You don't want to see pictures of it, believe us.
▲You might find your email address associated with all sorts of websites. You can check if you suspect your email has been leaked.
▲This can freak you out a bit. Google really does knows where you are at all times.
▲The likelihood of you having skin cancer is huge when you consult with Dr. Google. More often than not, you'll find a picture or a video featuring a malignant mole, just like yours!
▲

As you can imagine, these types of searches trigger alarm bells with the authorities. You don't want your IP address associated with potential terrorism or substance dealing.

▲Sounds fishy? That's probably because it is. The video features two Japanese women and a number of eels. You don't want to know what they do with them.
▲Harry Potter fandom is something else! These are women who believe that they are romantically involved with Professor Severus Snape.
▲You will be revolted by the weird and disgusting things people have found in their food!
