In a tell-all book titled 'Tinderbox: HBO’s Ruthless Pursuit of New Frontiers,' it was revealed that the late actor initially signed a contract for US$5 million per season, which HBO doubled after the third season, but his team had continued to ask for higher compensation afterwards and went so far as to file a breach of contract lawsuit. That led to the network countersuing him, a problem which would have required stopping production. But Gandolfini wouldn't do that to his coworkers, so he agreed to HBO's offer of US$13 million per season.
But he wasn't done there, as the star then wrote US$33,000 checks for each of his co-stars. Steve Schirripa spoke about the good deed back in 2013 after his beloved co-star's untimely death and said, "As good of an actor as he was, he was a better guy. A generous guy. The guy gave us $33,000 each—16 people,” he told New York’s WFAN radio, per NY Post. “In Season 4 he called every one of the regular cast members and gave us a check. He said, ‘Thanks for sticking by me.’ It’s like buying 16 people a car."
While hosting a screening event of his movie 'Red Notice,' Johnson called a man named Oscar Rodriguez up to join him, saying that he had heard his story and was very impressed. “Your story really moved me,” he told Rodriguez, before starting to list his many good deeds.
He told the crowd Rodriguez looks after his 75-year-old mother, he works as a personal trainer to help people get fit, is a leader in his church, provides support and meals for women victimized by domestic violence, is a navy veteran, and more than anything is a truly kind person. Johnson said he wanted to do something special for Rodriguez, and gave him the keys to his own souped-up pickup truck and told him it was his. Rodriguez was speechless and moved to tears by the gift. “Oscar said it right, just before he drove away ~ it’s just love,” Johnson wrote on Instagram later.
Often thought of as the nicest guy in Hollywood, Tom Hanks has spent many years delighting fans. One very memorable instance was when he crashed a Central Park wedding in 2016. The delighted couple were more than happy to have him photobomb their special day!
The prominent actor has been in the news a lot over the years, often for his party lifestyle. However, in recent years, he has finally married and settled down, and is now better known for his humanitarian work!
Already famous for his good deeds, the actor never fails to disappoint, and even a simple interaction with a young fan at an airport is a chance for him to show how kind he is. TV Producer Andrew Kimmel recounted the story on Twitter as he witnessed it while flying alongside Reeves from London to NYC: "A young boy asked for an autograph at baggage & then began to fire off a series of rapid-fire questions. Keanu happily responded to every single one," Kimmel began the thread.
The kid asked things like why Reeves was in London (filming a documentary), if he was at the Grand Prix (yes), if he drives (not F1 but he likes motorcycles), if he lives in New York (no, LA), how long he's going to be in New York (five days), why he's going (to see the broadway show 'American Buffalo'), and where he's staying (Midtown). "By this time the kid was running out of questions, so Keanu started grilling him," Kimmel wrote. Keanu asked in return: "Why were you in Europe? What galleries did you go to in Paris? What was your favorite?"
"The man could not have been nicer, especially after an international flight. I thought I’d share this because the dude is a class act and little moments like this can make such a big difference in people’s lives. We need more Keanus!" Kimmel concluded.
Months after Jamie Foxx disappeared following his mysterious hospitalization in April, he returned to the public eye with an act of kindness. On July 10, 2023, a fan posted a video on Instagram in which he shared that the actor returned his mother's bag after she'd lost it earlier in the day. “Mom lost her bag in Chicago today Jamie Foxx found it and brought it to her and he said he feels good y’all god is good,” the man captioned the clip. In the video, Foxx gets in a large black SUV after returning the bag to the woman who then calls out her thanks as he drives off.
The now fully grown star of the ‘Harry Potter’ movies has been very candid about disliking a lot of elements of fame, even delving into details about overcoming alcoholism in the past. This honesty will likely have helped many people. He has also been very outspoken about issues surrounding gender equality.
Still incredibly famous for her portrayal of Regina George in 'Mean Girls,' Rachel McAdams couldn’t be further from this character in real life! Humble and gracious, she is a long established actress with a seriously impressive repertoire.
