The celebrity real estate market is, as one might expect, lavish beyond our regular income dreams. But one surprising aspect of the market is that these over-the-top, beautiful homes appear to be few in number, so much so that many stars have actually lived in the homes that others have traded out for even more lavish homes. In some cases, the famous buyers attribute some extra magic to the homes where admired musicians, actors, or athletes have once lived.

Usually, when you buy a house, you don't know much or anything at all about the previous tenants, but there are a number of celebrities who have bought their homes from other celebrities whose histories while they lived in those homes were made quite public.

Cassandra Peterson, best known as 'Elvira, Mistress of the Dark,' was very clear about the "haunted" history of her LA home before she sold it to Brad Pitt in 1994 for a reported $1.7 million. "We were just kind of warning him that a lot of weird things have been going on there in the house since we moved in," Peterson recalled in an interview with People. "And he was very excited about that. He thought that was really cool."

"I've seen people walking around upstairs, for example, real people just walking. One time [a ghost was] sitting downstairs in front of the fireplace, once walking into my bedroom and back out," Peterson added. In another instance, "We saw a person floating around at the bottom of the pool, things like that." She said she knows how it sounds, especially coming from her, but she swore she was sober. She even "had a priest come in to do an exorcism" on the 29-room mansion. "So we were telling Brad all about that and he loved it. I mean, there are not many buyers who that would be a selling point for, but he was like, 'Oh, that's so awesome.' I love that he appreciated the house so much."
