Throughout history, there have been many strange and scary things that have disturbed journeys around the world. Take a look at this gallery for a roundup of the craziest and most concerning airport incidents and accidents.

▲

A 17-year-old boy allegedly boarded a flight to Sydney with a shotgun and ammunition. He was overpowered by his fellow passengers, who made a citizen’s arrest. The Jetstar flight was at Avalon Airport, outside Melbourne, at 2:50 pm local time (7:47 am EST) on March 6 when the incident happened. Police were called to the scene and detained the suspect.

A man was detained on a flight from Colombia to the Netherlands with £8,000 (around US$10,000) of cocaine hidden under his wig. According to authorities, there were 19 cocaine capsules found inside the wig, containing 220 grams (7.8 ounces).

▲This incident happened at Ninoy Aquino International Airport in the Philippines.
▲Bees, yes bees, swarmed the control panels of several aerobridges at the airport. The gates were closed, and flights were postponed.
▲One of the most disruptive airport-related incidents was the 2010 eruption of Eyjafjallajökull.
▲The Icelandic eruptions didn’t just affect one airport, but dozens around the world. Scheduled flights were delayed, and flights across the Atlantic were compromised.
▲

An array of animal problems hit Melbourne Airport back in August 2008. A jet wasn’t allowed to land when animals were found all over the runway.

▲

Catfish, tortoises, a blue indigo snake and an alligator were all found on the runway. They were found there after the Tropical Storm Fay earlier that month. They were relocated to a pond by the airport.

▲The next incident took place at the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), and involves a very famous face.
▲Kanye West is known for clashing with the paparazzi, but in February 2016, he broke up a fight between two paparazzos. He even hugged the aggressor.
▲Let’s go to Denver International Airport, where one woman caused a stir after breaking the law.
▲The woman lit a cigarette inside the airport, and refused to put it out. When she refused, she stripped naked, and carried on as normal. She was taken to the hospital, and was not arrested.
▲In May 2015, Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport saw some mass hysteria after 100 flights were affected by dangerous weather.
▲The incident led to chaos when passengers clashed with staff. Riot police were called in, and airport equipment was smashed up in the battle. Eventually, everything was solved.
▲

Back in May 2015, the Charlotte Douglas International Airport saw some naked action.

▲

One passenger found out that his flight was oversold, so he stripped off his clothes, and argued with airport staff. He was not charged.

▲In another celebrity-related incident, Blac Chyna clashed with staff at the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.
▲Chyna was allegedly drunk, and fought with a flight attendant. She was put in cuffs, and was in tears when police took her out of the airport.
▲Now, we head to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, where one man named McCleish Christmas Benham caused some serious trouble.
▲As reported by the Daily Mail, Benham claimed to have had “100 drinks.” He also yelled homophobic slurs, and attacked another passenger. He was tackled and fined.
▲

The next meltdown took place at Kunming Changshui International Airport in China.

▲

After showing up late for his flight, a man (named Mr. Yan) started destroying airport equipment and furniture, with the crowds looking on in shock.

▲The next meltdown took place at Hong Kong International Airport. The incident occurred in 2009, and it went viral.
▲A middle-aged woman arrived late for a flight to San Francisco, and threw one hell of a tantrum. She screamed, cried, and crawled on the floor in despair. Meanwhile, her travel partner managed to keep his cool.
▲

Australia has a wild reputation with animals, who caused a great deal of trouble at Tullamarine Airport in Melbourne.

▲

An injured kangaroo bounced into action, and made its way into a terminal pharmacy. They were not the first kangaroo that has interrupted an airport.

▲Chicago’s O’Hare Airport is one of the busiest airports in America, employing a huge number of staff. Perhaps the most hard-working employees though, are the animals.
▲A group of animals, featuring goats, sheep, llamas, and burros were employed by the airport. They help mow the grass in the airport grounds.
▲

Stray animals have proved to be a big problem at Surigao Airport in the Philippines.

▲Dogs, pigs, goats, and pigeons have all wandered into the airport grounds. The ongoing problem led the local city council to warn local residents about keeping an eye on their animals.
▲With an immense amount of passengers passing through every day, JFK International Airport should be well-equipped for all manner of problems…
▲

...However, in 2011 a gang of diamondback terrapin turtles caused some trouble at the airport. The animals walked across the runway, and even laid their eggs there. Pilots were initially asked to go around the animals, before airport staff were able to clear them off the runway.
