Pop band Pale Waves is the next big thing. The Mancunian quartet has a great sounds and bold looks. Lead singer Heather Baron-Gracie performs in gothic make-up straight from the 1990s. She has great chemistry with her fellow musicians, all sharing a dark yet playful aesthetic. Pale Waves recently released their debut EP, titled ‘All the Things I Never Said’. The EP cover is typically all-black, but the songs on display are anything but miserable.

Singles like ‘My Obsession’ and ‘New Year’s Eve’ are pop ballads beamed from the ‘80s. With production handled by Jonathan Gilmore, the EP is a tight 13-minute listen that commands your attention. Pale Waves’ efforts have not gone unnoticed. Rock band The 1975 took the quartet on tour, performing stadium-sized gigs across the country. The group even hung out with Naomi Campbell at the NME Awards this year. In an interview on BBC Radio 1, they revealed that the model mistook them for children, asking “Where are your parents?”. Jokes aside, check out Pale Waves for powerful ballads with a stark aesthetic.
