Felipe Oliveira Baptista will leave his position at Lacoste later this year. The designer has worked as Lacoste’s creative director since 2010. In a statement obtained by Vogue, Lacoste CEO Thierry Guibert said “we are very grateful to him for contributing to the artistic and commercial development of our brand”. Guibert went on to say “a new stage will now open and I am extremely confident in the future successes of our brand, emblematic of French know-how and elegance”.
A new creative director will be appointed in the next few months. Baptista shared his own heartfelt message on Instagram, saying that it was “the end of an era”. He thanked “everyone at Lacoste, specially the great Design studio”, as well as “the amazing pattern cutters, machinists, artists, photographers, stylists” and many more.
During his time at Lacoste, Felipe has crafted hit collections praised by critics and buyers alike. Last year, his collaboration with Supreme sold out in just 16 minutes.
