Millennials have long suffered as the butt of avocado toast jokes and as the picture of laziness, and Hasbro has decided to capitalize on those lazy quips by releasing a new version of the game already notorious for tearing people apart over the course of many hours: 'Monopoly for Millennials.'
The tagline is “Forget real estate, you can’t afford it anyway,” and, naturally, millennials feel a little attacked.
In this new specialty edition game, players don't buy property, but rather experiences, including going to the vegan bistro, attending a week-long meditation retreat, and crashing on their friend’s couch.
Absent from these reductive experiences, many people have noted, are things like trying to live without health care, or graduating from college into a rapidly declining job market.
And, to really hit them where it hurts, the person with the highest student loan debt goes first.
One Twitter user tagged Hasbro directly and asked, "Can you provide the URL for the Hasbro-official website featuring "Monopoly for Millennials," where you trash on my age demographic because baby boomers caused an economic catastrophe that rendered us financially impotent for a decade? Thanks!"

Another suggested a version for baby boomers "where you buy property for below value price, only people of color go to jail, and when you pass 'Go' you get to complain about Millennials!!!"

Someone took the time to really dive into the peculiar economic history of the game, writing, "There's something almost fascinating about an anti-capitalist game design turning into a huge commercial hit that is then cynically re-branded to appeal to a generation with less economical opportunity."

And one user even explained why the targeted board game doesn't make financial sense, writing, "The thing about monopoly for millennials is we don’t have disposable income to spend on board games. Idiots."

At the very least, here is another well-loved company that we can again blame millennials for killing!
