The Kevin Spacey Foundation, a charity founded by the Hollywood actor, has shut down after seven years. The charity was set up in 2011 with the purpose of helping emerging actors. Spacey left the board of directors last November after accusations surfaced of sexual abuse. Last year, Spacey was accused of sexual assault by actor Anthony Rapp. Others came forward with other accounts of abuse, some occurring when Spacey was artistic director of London’s Old Vic theatre.
The announcement was made on the charity’s official website. “The trustees have reached the conclusion that the work of the Kevin Spacey Foundation UK is no longer viable”, a statement read. “As such the foundation will be closing on the 28 February 2018”. As picked up by BBC News, the charity thanked the partners, artists and organisations that helped with the foundation.
It’s uncertain what the future of the organisation in America will be.
