In a shocking interview for James Andrew Miller's 'Origins' podcast, in which he interviews the cast of 'Sex and the City' (minus Kim Cattrall), it was revealed that the script for a third 'Sex and the City' movie called for Mr. Big (played by Chris Noth) to die of a heart attack early on in the film.
The fissure, the raw emotions, the surprise in the 3rd #SexandtheCity movie that didn't get made. Episode 3 of #OriginswithJAM #SATC is out. https://t.co/mp3Q9Y66Hh

It was also suggested that this was partly the reason why Cattrall did not wish to partake in a third instalment. The remainder of the movie, following the tragic loss, would have focused primarily on Carrie Bradshaw (played by Sarah Jessica Parker) recovering from the passing of her husband and offered little for Cattrall's character, Samantha Jones.
