Dwayne Johnson dedicated himself to training and building his body, the same way he'd seen the successful men in his life do. At 18, he was offered a football scholarship to the University of Miami—things were looking up!

He loved football and excelled at the sport, but sadly he suffered several serious injuries that killed his NFL dreams. He was signed by a professional Canadian football team, however, but was cut only two months into the season.

Wrestling career -

With his football career up in smoke, he decided to follow in his father's footsteps and join the wrestling world. His father reluctantly agreed to train him, knowing it might not be an easy life. He adopted the villainous character of The Rock and went on to to be one of the most successful pro wrestlers in history, winning 17 championships.

Johnson was king of the ring for 10 years, but he wanted to make the leap into acting. Only a few wrestlers had done this successfully in the past.

Johnson is passionate about his family. He had his daughter Simone in 2001 with now ex-wife Dany Garcia. Today, Garcia is Johnson's longtime manager and business partner, and Simone has gone into the family business as a wrestler herself.

Johnson hasn't been reluctant to share his success with those in need. In 2007, he started the Dwayne Johnson Rock Foundation. The charity works with at-risk and terminally ill children.

The people's champion -

His exceptional career was honored at the 2021 People's Choice Awards on December 7. Jen Neal, Vice President of E! Entertainment made the announcement. "Dwayne is one of the most beloved actors of our time who has achieved unprecedented success throughout his career," she said in her statement. "His philanthropic efforts and international social media presence has made him a cultural leader and inspiration to many, making him the perfect recipient for The People's Champion Award of 2021."

Johnson finally joined the superhero world in 2022 and took on a role worthy of his Hollywood prestige. 'Black Adam' was one of the biggest action/superhero movies of the year, telling the story of the eponymous anti-hero from the extended DC Universe. Johnson was cast for the role a decade ago and is finally brought the dark, troubled character to life. The film focuses on Black Adam's origin story as a slave who is given god-like powers. He has a unique sense of justice fueled by the pain and rage caused by his years of imprisonment, meaning he is often at odds with the other heroes of the DCU. The role gives Johnson a new opportunity to stretch his acting range, and his performance has been described as "electric."

Dwayne Johnson’s first Christmas film, ‘Red One,’ was released on November 6, 2024. Starring alongside Chris Evans, the Rock plays the head of North Pole security in this action-comedy that is already set to become a Christmas-themed franchise. And now that he’s cracked the holiday market, we can be sure to see him on our screens every year!

Maui is back for ‘Moana 2’ -

Johnson made his Disney debut in 2016, voicing the much-loved Maui in ‘Moana’. The musical animation is set in the islands of Polynesia and the Rock’s character is a tattooed demigod with superhuman strength … sound familiar? His character became particularly well known for the song ‘You're Welcome’ so fans were delighted to hear he would be making a comeback for the sequel, ‘Moana 2’, which premiered in Hawaii on November 21, 2024.
