Artists who canceled their shows due to health problems
The Chicks postpone tour dates due to Natalie Maines' vocal health
©
Getty Images

The Chicks announced on June 20 that they are postponing the next three dates on their tour due to Natalie Maines' vocal health. "As a result of strict doctor’s orders for vocal rest, the Chicks are forced to postpone the following shows," the group announced, listing Noblesville, Indiana, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Clarkston, Michigan. They apologized and said the shows have been rescheduled for late September and earlier October.
The announcement comes one day after The Chicks had to cancel a show in Indianapolis after they'd already done 30 minutes of it, due to Maines' vocal emergency. According to Variety, Maines told the crowd shortly before canceling the show that she was being treated for a vocal malady and had taken a steroid shot to be able to perform, but that it had not kicked in yet. The band later apologized but promised to return.
Indeed, great musicians may seem superhuman as they power through tours with dozens of concerts and days of traveling, but the stressful routine can take its toll. Shakira, Adele, and Lady Gaga are just some of the other stars forced to cancel their shows due to illness.
