Mere hours before Ringo Starr was supposed to perform at Michigan's Four Winds Casino on October 1, the former Beatle canceled the show due to an unspecified ailment. Starr's team said the 82-year-old doesn't have COVID-19 but that his voice was affected by the illness, which was why his show the following night with his All-Starr Band was also postponed.
“Ringo is sick and was hoping he could carry on, hence the late decision, but it has affected his voice so tonight’s show, scheduled to begin in a few hours is canceled,” said the announcement posted to the casino’s Facebook. Apparently refunds are available but there may also be a rescheduled date.
Great musicians may seem superhuman as they power through tours with dozens of concerts and days of traveling, but the stressful routine can take its toll. Shakira, Adele, and Lady Gaga are just some of the other stars forced to cancel their shows due to illness or injury.
