Looks like there was some trouble in royal paradise for Kate Middleton and Prince William earlier on in their relationship. Now, happily married with children, the Duchess of Cambridge can reflect on the more turbulent times in her courtship.
In their engagement interview, Middleton addressed their brief breakup which, of course, had been highly publicized by the UK press. The couple briefly broke up over Christmas holidays in 2006.
“I think I at the time wasn't very happy about it, but actually it made me a stronger person," Middleton explained, according to Express. "You find out things about yourself that maybe you hadn't realized. Or I think you can get quite consumed by a relationship when you are younger. I really valued that time for me as well although I didn't think it at the time. Looking back on it."
Prince William also had some very mature words about the couple's time apart. He explained how "We both were very young, it was at university, we were sort of both finding ourselves as such and being different characters and stuff, it was very much trying to find our own way and we were growing up, and so it was just sort of a bit of space and a bit of things like that and it worked out for the better."
After seven years together, Kate Middleton and Prince William are easily a couple to envy. Their grace and apparent respect for one another make for one royal relationship.
