Matt Damon has spoken openly about the difficulties he encountered while making 'The Odyssey,' which is hitting theaters on July 17— yet the father of four believes it was "all worth it" when he received feedback from one of his daughters.
Adapting an epic poem into a feature film has considerable obstacles. In an exclusive conversation with People, Damon describes his latest film venture as "more like an expedition than a movie," noting that the entire production team worked "out in the weather, whether we were cold, uncomfortable, getting rained on," adding, "This movie was by far the hardest movie to the most challenging movie I've ever been a part."
Still, Damon says that all those grueling days proved worthwhile when he got one of his daughter's reviews after she saw the finished film.
According to Damon, "She saw 'The Odyssey,' and at the end of it, she actually turned to me, and she said, 'Dad, I'm proud of you.'" He continued, "She's never said anything like that because we joke around a lot, and so at that point, I was like, 'I'm good.'"
Damon co-parents four daughters—Alexia, 27, Isabella, 20, Gia, 17, and Stella, 15—alongside his spouse Luciana Barroso.
