American actor, director, and writer Jesse Eisenberg was awarded Polish citizenship by President Andrzej Duda, following the success of his Oscar-winning film ‘A Real Pain’ (2024). He was inspired to make the film, which is about two American cousins who travel to Poland to honor their grandmother, following the death of his great aunt who was a Holocaust survivor.

Dua Lipa -

Dua Lipa was granted her Albanian citizenship in an oath-taking ceremony hosted by the country’s president, Bajram Begaj in 2022. Though the ceremony was in the Albanian language, Billboard reports that Begaj granted Lipa citizenship for her efforts to elevate the status of Albania in music internationally. The singer was born and raised in the UK, but her parents are of Kosovo Albanian descent, and she and her father famously launched the Sunny Hill Foundation, through which they hold concerts in Kosovo whose funds go towards a charity for locals. The singer shared a series of photos and videos of the ceremony to her Instagram and wrote, "Thank you President Bajram Begaj and Mayor [Erion Veliaj] for this honour ~ got my Albanian citizenship!!"

Tristan Thompson -

NBA star Tristan Thompson officially became a citizen of the United States in 2020. The Canadian-born basketball player grew up in Brampton, Ontario, but has enjoyed a fruitful career with the Cleveland Cavaliers, and signed a US$19 million deal with the Boston Celtics. “I came to the US on a student visa and have always had big dreams," Thompson said after fulfilling the requirements to become a naturalized citizen. "I’m now truly living the American dream.”

Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson -

Though they're both US citizens, Wilson is also of Greek descent via her mother, and she and Hanks often vacation in Greece. In January 2020, Hanks was made an honorary citizen of Greece, and in July it was made official. What's more, "citizenship has reportedly also been extended to Hanks’ entire family."
