Following the angry spat between US President Donald Trump and Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on February 28 that shocked the world, sales of the Damirli polo shirt Zelenskyy wore to the Oval Office have increased. And many of the orders have come from the US, according to the Ukrainian designer Elvira Gasanova.

"Now many people are buying this shirt, which is sold for 215 euros. Today we had many orders from America. Perhaps they want to own something worn by a Ukrainian president in a historic moment," Gasanova said.

The designer also defended the Ukrainian president’s choice not to wear a suit, something he was criticized for during his visit to the Oval Office. Gasanova pointed out that Ukraine's leader has not worn a suit since Russia invaded Ukraine three years ago, as a way to show solidarity with the Ukrainian army and people.

Clearly, cultivating an image is important for those in charge, as it helps to establish credibility and influence public perception. Just like Zelenskyy, some other world leaders have become synonymous with their styles. Kim Jong-un, for example, with his stone-colored suit and flat-top haircut, and Winston Churchill with his bowler hat and cigar. But what about the folks at the top whose styles have become so iconic that they've filtered into the mainstream and inspired the fashion choices of everyday people?

From glamorous Jackie Kennedy to flamboyant Louis XIV, this gallery features some of the most fashionable leaders in history. Curious? Click through to discover who they are.
